A fine course indeed, but perhaps not for those with a faint heart, especially when the wind is blowing. Many years ago my dear friend, Christy O’Connor, won the John Player Classic there. The first prize was £25,000, the richest in the world of golf at that time – very different from today but a huge amount of money.
